It’s a fact ………The Real Lancashire Black Puddings Co. produces some of the best black puddings in Europe! And is one of the top businesses in Lancashire.
March 2010 has been a very eventful month for the Haslingden based company.
The first accolade was to be voted as finalists in the BIBAS (Be Inspired Business Awards) where they were voted amongst the top 5 businesses throughout Lancashire.
Hailed as the ‘one they all want to win’, the BIBA’s is the most ambitious event of its kind and, this year, attracted an exceptional 927 entries (including 87 finalists) from some of Lancashire’s top performing companies. The Real Lancashire Black Pudding Co was one of five finalists in Business of the Year category, the most prestigious award of the evening.
Andrew Holt, Managing Director of the Real Lancashire Black Pudding Co. Ltd, said “this is the third year we have been short-listed as a finalist in the BIBAS which is a real credit to our team and proves we must be doing something right.”

Still bristling with pride Andrew eagerly awaited news from France after sending some products to the international competition held in Mortagne-au-perche France.

This competition is the biggest and most prestigious “Black Pudding competition in the world.” With over 600 butchers entering from all over Europe the Real Lancashire Black Pudding Co. were awarded “Grande Prix de Excellence” (National champions). The team were involved in helping to create this year’s competition entries which included Black Pudding with fennel and Black Pudding with farmhouse Lancashire cheese as well as the traditional Bury black pudding which ultimately triumphed. Made to an age-old, traditional recipe, the Real Lancashire Black Pudding Co. is definitely the most highly decorated black pudding manufacturer in Britain. The list of accolades continues to grow and now stands at 160.

“We pride ourselves on using the best ingredients and are totally dedicated to making top quality products, for us, only the best will do. These awards are not easy to come by. The standards are very high indeed and we feel that they verify the quality of our products’ said Andrew Holt.

On the same day as the judging in France the company also entered into the ‘National Supreme Products competition and were please to hear that they had won 1 gold medal and 3 silver medals for different products in The National Federation of Meat and Food Traders bi-annual awards event which is part of the Foodex show at the NEC with 80 butchers entering over 380 products in five categories.
Andrew’s son Brett was awarded the gold medal. ‘It’s good that Brett is working with me but I’m not sure about him outshining me’ says Andrew. ‘All in all March has been a great month for the business
